Briefly describe the role model’s professional journey and current position.

Prompt questions:

  • What is your current role and organisation?
  • How long have you been in green tech?
  • Cosa ti ha spinto a entrare in questo settore?

I am currently Operations Manager at AGECO, where I oversee the management of recycling centres for bulky and special waste, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and operational efficiency. I also coordinate awareness campaigns aimed at improving separate waste collection at the local level.

I have been working in the environmental sector for over 15 years, starting in administrative roles and gradually moving into operational and managerial positions. My motivation has always been linked to environmental protection and the desire to contribute to more sustainable waste management systems.

Describe the major obstacles in the role model’s career.

Prompt questions:

  • Quali sono state le sfide professionali o personali più difficili?
  • How did these challenges affect your career growth?

One of the main challenges in my career has been working in a traditionally male-dominated sector, especially in technical and operational roles. At the beginning, it was not always easy to be recognised as a competent professional.

Another significant challenge has been changing citizens’ behaviour towards waste separation. Raising awareness is a long-term process and often requires overcoming resistance, misinformation, and lack of engagement.

Explain how challenges were overcome.

Prompt questions:

  • What actions, strategies, or skills helped you overcome obstacles?
  • Ci sono stati mentori, strumenti o reti che hanno aiutato?

To overcome these challenges, I invested in continuous professional development and strengthened both my technical and communication skills. Being well-prepared helped me gain credibility and confidence in my role.

I also focused on building strong collaborations with municipalities, schools, and local stakeholders. Awareness campaigns, workshops, and direct engagement activities proved effective. Support from colleagues and informal mentorship within the organisation played an important role as well.
